Our Story

Rooted in heritage and refined through time, the Ciuffo story is one of artistry, innovation, and family devotion. What began as a modest craft has become a legacy synonymous with excellence - a lineage of master craftsmen whose vision elevated cabinetry into a timeless expression of design and integrity. Each generation has carried that torch forward, shaping a brand where history and artistry are forever intertwined.

The Ciuffo Legacy: From Italy to America

The Ciuffo family’s tradition in woodworking began with Gaspare Ciuffo I, born in Palermo in 1881. A master sculptor and artisan, he immigrated to New York in 1912 with his wife and children, bringing with him a deep reverence for craftsmanship. In Manhattan, Gaspare founded Ciuffo Furniture, soon renowned for its ecclesiastical carvings and custom hand-crafted pieces. His artistry endures in New York landmarks to this day - from the Virgin and Child at Manhattan City College, to the Stations of the Cross on Mulberry Street.

Gaspare’s three sons each carried the family craft forward in their own way. Salvatore, the eldest, founded his own furniture and upholstery shop - a business his son, Gaspare Ciuffo II, would later evolve into Ciuffo Cabinetry, transforming the family’s artistry into a new era of bespoke millwork. Alfonso, a gifted woodcarver, created works for President Franklin D. Roosevelt before opening Ciuffo Studio, later revived in California by his son Lawrence as L. Ciuffo Studios. Gaspare's youngest son, Angelo, remained in his father’s Manhattan shop, devoting his life to woodworking and mentoring the next generation of artisans.

It was Gaspare Ciuffo II who became the bridge between past and future. Training his sons Gary and Michael from their earliest years, he instilled in them a discipline of design and devotion to detail that defined the next era. Together, they built Ciuffo Cabinetry into a name synonymous with bespoke millwork of the highest caliber.

Today, Gary Ciuffo, President, has guided the company into the forefront of luxury design - balancing heritage with innovation, and tradition with vision. His brother Michael, Vice President, has led the integration of CNC innovation and modern production techniques, preserving the artistry of traditional craftsmanship through contemporary precision. Now, a fifth generation carries the story forward. Joe Ciuffo, Gary’s son, blends modern business expertise with the artistry woven into the family’s DNA. Recognized nationally as an emerging industry leader, he ensures the Ciuffo name continues to evolve, honoring its heritage while shaping its future.

What began in a small workshop in Palermo has become a legacy more than a century in the making: five generations bound by craft, guided by artistry, and united by an enduring devotion to detail. The Ciuffo name remains a testament to tradition and innovation; its spirit alive in every piece, every generation, and every design.
