CABINETRY CLEANING & MAINTENANCE

Crafted to last, your cabinetry deserves the same care it was built with. We’re pleased to share these thoughtful guidelines to help preserve its beauty, protect its finish, and ensure it remains a timeless part of your home.

Maintaining The Right Environment For Your Cabinetry

Wood is a natural material, sensitive to light, temperature, and humidity. To protect your cabinetry:

  • Minimize direct sunlight exposure, or draw curtains during the brightest hours of the day. Prolonged sunlight may cause natural lightening or darkening of finishes.

  • Avoid extreme temperatures or moisture levels, as fluctuations can cause wood to expand or contract, potentially damaging the finish.

Cleaning Your Cabinetry

Routine cleaning prevents buildup of smoke, grease, and dust, which can dull finishes over time.

For Everyday Care:

  • Dust regularly with a soft cotton cloth, dusting cloth, or feather duster.

  • For regular cleaning, wipe exterior surfaces with a clean, damp cloth, then dry thoroughly.

  •

For Deeper Cleaning:

  • For grease, oil, or soil, create a solution using a mild dishwashing detergent and water.

  • Apply with a soft cloth, then dry immediately with a clean, dry rag.

Cleaning Don'ts

To protect the finish, avoid the following:

  • Abrasive materials such as soap pads, Magic Erasers, or steel wool.

  • Harsh chemicals including bleach, ammonia, petroleum-based cleaners, silicones, or strong detergents.

  • Wax or oil-based products, which can cause build-up. (Wax-free, silicone-free cleaners such as Murphy’s Oil Soap are acceptable.)

  • Dishcloths or sponges, which may carry grease or detergent residue.

  • Excess water—cabinets should never be soaked. Always dampen a soft cloth lightly, clean, and dry immediately.

Touch-Ups

Minor touch-ups may be done with a Mohawk stain marker or wax stick. To avoid accidental damage, these should always be handled by a trained professional.
